Attorneys and Judges
Attorneys play a vital role in this work. As professionals in the field, they bring
firsthand knowledge of the rule of law and a clear understanding of its impact on
individuals, communities, and justice systems.
Join a Prison Project
For those who feel called to engage more directly, attorneys and judges play a vital role in our Prison Projects. Serving alongside local judges, prosecutors, and counsel, participants act as practitioners, collaborators, and trainers—modeling ethical advocacy while humbly supporting nationally led reform efforts. Experience practicing criminal law is not a requirement.
Whether reviewing case files, mentoring law students, or contributing to plea bargaining discussions, attorneys and judges bring both technical skill and steady leadership to environments where it is deeply needed.
If this opportunity resonates with you and stirs a desire to engage more deeply in
global justice work, we encourage you to connect with our team to begin the conversation.
We would be pleased to learn more about you and your experiences as well as to share
upcoming project opportunities, program expectations, and potential next steps.

Testimonial

Serving with SGJI as part of its Prison Project profoundly changed my life in ways I never imagined.
Every attorney (and law student) should find a way to be part of this work and go on a Prison Project. I can assure you that if you do, you will return with a fresh perspective on what it truly means to practice law.
