Law Students
Housed within Pepperdine Caruso School of Law, we prioritize creating opportunities for students to engage directly in the work of justice. Through our global partnerships, we provide experiences beyond the classroom and bring enriching opportunities to Malibu that deepen students’ understanding of the law in practice.

Meeting the Honorable Chief Justice of Kenya was incredibly inspiring... I deeply admire how she blends her faith with advocacy.

Opportunities for Caruso School of Law Students

Classes
Study human trafficking, human rights, and the rule of law in Institute-sponsored courses taught by leaders in global justice. These classes bridge theory and practice, equipping students to engage complex challenges with clarity and purpose.

Spring Break Prison Project
What if your spring break could take you inside a prison, working alongside judges, prosecutors, and attorneys to advance real cases? Spend one week abroad engaging in plea bargaining initiatives, gaining hands-on legal experience, and seeing firsthand how justice systems function in practice.

Summer Internships
Step into a nine-week global internship and clerk within national court systems in Africa. Work alongside judicial leaders, participate in a Prison Project, and engage in real-time justice reform while gaining hands-on experience that shapes how you practice law.

Events
Throughout the year, SGJI hosts events that bring the work of global justice to campus. Through lectures, trainings, and gatherings, students hear directly from leaders in the field, engage pressing issues, and become part of a thoughtful community committed to justice.
Opportunities for Law Students From Other Universities
Law students from other universities are invited to participate in our Spring Break Prison Projects and Global Summer Internships. If you are interested in joining a future program, we encourage you to connect with our Student Programs Manager to learn more about eligibility, timelines, and the application process.

I started [the] summer believing I would be immensely impacted, but I just didn't know quite how. I [left] Kampala with a clarity and passion for justice, a more informed legal mind, a love for Uganda, and many life-long friends.
It doesn't get much better than that.
