Overview
The Sudreau Global Justice Institute advances access to justice through three integrated pillars: strengthening justice systems, defending the defenseless, and training the next generation of legal leaders. Together, these pillars reflect both a top-down and bottom-up approach, supporting judicial leaders in advancing systemic reform while also addressing the needs of individuals navigating the justice system.
Strengthen Justice Systems

We partner with national judiciaries, particularly across Africa, to strengthen the
systems needed for timely and accessible justice. Through initiatives such as the
Africa Chief Justices’ ADR Forum and national ADR trainings, we support judicial leaders
in improving their judicial systems.
Defend the Defenseless

We stand alongside nations working to strengthen their justice systems through our
Prison Projects and public defender initiatives. These efforts help build more efficient
systems and support a more just and dignified process for those involved.
Train the Next Generation

We equip students through coursework, global internships, and spring break prison projects that take learning beyond the classroom. These experiences give students the opportunity to engage real cases, work alongside legal leaders, and see how justice systems operate in practice around the world.
